Madilyn and her hair.

Its like pulling teeth to do Madilyn's hair. She always wants it "STRAIGHT DOWN!" With NOTHING in it.  (so she looks like a homeless girl even if its brushed!) I don't fight with her too much during the week since we don't usually go anywhere.  But when we go to town or out of the house, its my rule that we fix her hair "sooo cute!"  Today she was really excited about her "pony tail and side bangs!"  I couldn't believe it!  I had to take a picture of it!

But by the time we got to the VERY FIRST STOP in town she looked like THIS:
I was bummed!  But not surprised.
It happens EVERY week as SOON as we get in the car!

While we went to town today, Landon got his first solo tractor ride with dad!
Dad says he did JUST FINE! He didn't even try to climb out of his seatbelt-AND took a 2 hour nap!!

PERFECTION and INDEPENDANCE!!

Madilyn has turned into quite the
Impatient
Indpendant
Perfectionist!!
OH BOY am I in trouble!!!!

1. She'd love to be able to ride her bike. BUT if she doesn't get it doesn't "get it" on the first try she just gets mad and jumps right off.  If I try to teach her and show her how to peddle she gets even ANGRIER!! She can't STAND someone telling her how to do something!!  She's got to figure it out on her own.  Sometimes she'll sit and tinker with things forever just trying to figure them out...but when it comes to skills,  if she can't do it right the first time then she
JUST CAN'T DO IT!!

2. Today we were tracing squares.  She was getting SO anygry becasue her lines weren't PERFECTLY straight!  I didn't think she did too bad.  But it wasn't PERFECT so it wasnt' good enough for her!! I feel bad for her teachers when she gets to school!  She is definetly an independant learner!! However, I love sitting and watching her trying to be so perfect.  She just needs some patients to go with it!

Here's a picture of her squares.  Not too bad for a 3 year old!!
I love how she had to do so many different colors!!

The Joys and Pains of Motherhood

As a mother, its amazing how much you feel for your kids! Your heart aches with theirs and gets just excited as they do when they learn something new!

Last night we were at swimming practice for the ward talent show. Well, as everybody knows, when you get a few kids playing in the gym at the church someone is bound to get hurt!  Last night it was Madilyn's turn.

She was trying to get through the door to the stage (I think it was to tell me she needed to go potty).  Things didn't work out and she got her finger caught in the door.  They smashed really good (right on the edge of the fingernail). She cried and she cried and she cried.  I was starting to think maybe she broke it because her cry wasn't her usual cry.  I felt so bad for her, but she didn't want to go home.  It didn't help any that after I tried to comfort her I put her in timeout for peeing her pants...not thinking it might have been the reason she was looking for me.  Then I felt
TERRIBLE!!

It didn't matter what I did she was just in pain.  We went to the bathroom and got a cold paper towel to hold around her tiny little finger.  That helped for a little bit.  She'd sit on the stage next to me, then go walk around the gym and sob.  Poor Ryker kept following her around wanting to know what was wrong.  She kept yelling at him to go away! I finally had to tell her, he just wanted to know what happened and to say sorry.  After that they talked for a while then they came and told Bobi and I that
"Madilyn needed some pizza from Ikes!"
It was SO cute!!
(Its fun to see her interact with other kids and have conversataions!!)

Then she went and sat under the stage (the little overhang).  She was pretty quiet under there, every once in a while I could hear her cry.  Then all off a sudden, completly out of the blue she jumps up and yells
YIPEE! YIPEE! Its all better now!
and just like that I was as happy as she was!

SPRING DRESS!!

Madilyn LOVES her "Spring" Dress

I finally finished her dress this week.
Madilyn says its "BEAUTIFUL!!"

It was really fun to make.  I've never done anything like this before.  It was defenatly a learning experience.
I learned:

1. If you're in a hurry you're gauranteed to mess up.

2. Even if you have good intentions of starting early, when it comes down to it, you'll do most the work in the last week.

3. I'm grateful conference was on Easter Sunday this year, and I live in Idaho where we get to stay home in our jammies all day, instead of going to a stake center in dresses!
-or Madilyn wouldn't have had her "easter dress" to wear-
so we've changed the neame to her Spring Dress...

4. I LOVE having projects (with deadlines) to work on!!
(I actually finish them in a timely manner!)

3.  Pam knows all the shortcuts
-and how to fix my mistakes-
-even the ones I cried over because I thought they were totally unfixable!
She's amazing for putting up with me!
THANKS PAM FOR TEACHING ME!!!

Madilyn is So excited to wear her dress for the first time tomorrow!!  Which makes it so much better!!

All about Landon

Landon has become quite the funny little boy:

Such a BIG help in the kitchen!!

He LOVES to see what is going on. There is NEVER a time when he isn't happy that I'm holding him so he can see what I'm doing! -which means it takes mom twice as long as it should to get things done.

I was so proud of him the other day-
He sat and played with his blocks for almost 30 minutes
(with me walking past him taking care of things)
and he entertained himself the WHOLE time!!
I HAD to get a picture of it!!

While he was playing the the blocks, I was in his room sorting through all his old clothes. He finally found me and thought I needed some company....then his help!

Easter!

We didn't make it to the community easter egg hunt this year.  I wasn't going to take my kids out in the NASTY yucky cold snowy blowing weather! (MAYBE when they're older...maybe.) But what they don't know won't hurt them!  They had a blast this year without it!

Madilyn was pretty excited about coloring the eggs!
Landon could have cared less..but he did drop a couple in!
They weren't drying fast enough for dad to put the stickers on...
All DONE!
Easter Morning!
Madilyn didn't care about her basket, all she wanted was to go on an easter egg hunt!!
(I was pretty disapointed, I thought the Easter Bunny did a GREAT job! Every time we walk down the baby aisles she has to look at the Disney Plates and asks for one EVERY TIME!)
But Landon LOVED his piggy bank!
...and the easter egg hunt once he figured out what is was all about!
Madilyn loved her easter egg hunt...then she enjoyed her basket of treats!

HAPPY EASTER!!
