Just a BAD night!

The scariest thing happened here last night.  I had just gotten the kids in the tub, Ron was out working in the garden, and I was about to start on the dinner dishes.  The power kinda flickered and went off but came right back on.  I was standing at my kitchen sink and I heard the weirdest loudest humming/zapping sound and then the power went OUT. From the look on Ron's face in the garden I knew it was SOMETHING.  It was kind of stormy so I thought maybe he saw lightning touch the ground.  I ran outside and asked what on earth it was (okay, maybe I didn't use those words because I was so freaked out by it), but I got out there just in time to see it for myself.
The power lines were zapping!
Right in front of the house!
It was a HUGE ball of...
light?
(It reminded me of the bug on The Fox and the Hound when he's going across the power lines.)
Just much much
BIGGER, LOUDER, and FASTER!
It scared me so bad, I ran in, got the kids out of the tub and out of the house because I didn't want them to be inside when it started the house on fire.
Okay, so maybe I over reacted, but I had no idea what caused it, and it was so close to the house that I could just see it traveling to the house and then who knows what.

BUT it was all because of a wind gust blowing the wires causing two of the lines to touch each other, then it ended up tripping the breaker down at the sub station.

We finally got the kids bathed and put in bed, the dishes done, and the fish tank cleaned.  I went to sit on the couch and talk to Ron while he messed with his fish before we went to bed, when I wasn't paying attention and ran RIGHT into the couch!  BREAKING my toe! It was seriously the 2nd worst sound of the night.  I sat on the couch in agonizing pain (okay, maybe I'm over reacting AGAIN!) when Ron asked, was that your TOE NAIL!?!  Nope, pretty sure I just broke my toe!

Man, you never realize how much you take for granted until you can't use it, from power to a stupid little toe!   xc

SUMMER LOVIN'

Until the end of last week I was HATING Idaho.
 SERIOUSLY HATING IDAHO!
I hate that winter has to last so stinkin long!
I love the snow
(now that I don't have to drive 35 miles in it
ONE WAY everyday to get to school/work).
I love that we actually have seasons like spring and fall!  I love the change.
But the wind is OBNOXIOUS!
And that fact that it wouldn't get over 68 degrees was seriously killing me.

I've realized I'm still used to having 8-9 months of SUMMER not 8-9 months of WINTER.  I hate feeling trapped in the house, building fires to keep the house warm, putting plastic on the windows so you can't enjoy the little bit of sunshine we do get during those LONG WINTER MONTHS!

But the last couple weeks have been
 HEAVEN
 for me!

We've been able to spend our days outside for the most part.

We LOVE
...the swing set
...our walks/bike rides around the school
...playing in the sprinkler
...doing yard work
...gardening
...laying out and attempting to get a tan
...being able to walk wherever we want to go (church, library, school)

Today I even cleaned the outside windows...which lead to "pressure washing" the house.  ANYTHING to stay outside and enjoy the sun while we have it!!

We're loving this summer weather and hope its lasts THROUGH October!!
 (I know I know...I'm still in Idaho...but I can at least wish!)

*NOTE: Ronald is not included in the "WE"
The 8-9 months of Idaho Winter is in his blood!

Bountiful Baskets

Ok.  For those who have not heard of bountiful baskets its AMAZING!  Its a Co-op that runs along I-15 and has several stops here in East Idaho now.  My friend Kristin tried getting me into it about a year and half ago.  But the only stop in Idaho was over 2 hours away! :(  SO...Its finally made its way up here and there are TONS and TONS of pick up sites now!  I've been wanting to try it for months, but haven't been on the ball enough to get it done!

All you do is
 pay $16.50
go to the pick up site with your laundry basket
and you get tons of fresh fruit and veggies!

Every week is a surprise.  This week we got:
1. Really Big Stock of Celery
2. Swiss Chard (yah, not sure about that one)
3. A LARGE head of leaf lettuce.
4. A bag of baby carrots
5. THREE red onions
6. TWO avacados
7. SIX plump tomatoes
8. ONE large bunch of grapes
9. TWELVE plums
10. ONE bunch of bananas
11. ONE cantelope
12 EIGHT apples

I don't know about you, but I LOVE having fresh fruits and vegetables around the house!  I haven't been buying them because we have tons and tons of canned peaches and pears!  But FRESH is so much better..and this is a STEAL!!

SPLASH PARK

We had a BLAST at the spray park in Rexburg today. It was kind of a one las HOORAH before Moss' leave us for Wyoming next week. The park was PACKED.

(Probably because it was the first nice week of the summer!!)

But it didn't bother Madilyn one bit! She didn't care who was with her or who she was cutting in line to go down the slides! Landon even had a great time, although he wasn't too keen on the slide. He's rather sit at the bottom and get splashed when the big kids came down.

I think Bobi has pictures of my kids going down the slides...I already stole Pam's memory card so I'll have to sneak Bobi's next :)

Here are a FEW of the pictures Pam took for us:

(By the way, I HATE picking music...I won't be offended if you just turn the sound down!)

Chocoholic?

Do you think he's been watching mom too much?

JUST DO IT!-my new motto

My newest decorations:

Since we got married I always wanted to have an Americana theme for my living room.  I'm finally starting on it.  This is my first little corner finished.  I'm planning on making (or finding) some throws for the couch...adding some Red/White/Blue pillows.  I'd love to replace the old curtains with Blinds or get some nice coordinating curtains instead BUT:

We've been renting this house here in Terreton for 5 years now.  Ron has been very adamant that I not spend any money on decorating because its not "our" house.  I've been waiting FIVE year to make a house our home!  We keep thinking we're going to be able to get our own place and year after year keeps slipping by us.  I wish I could turn back time and change our decisions or see what the future hold for us.  When we first moved out here we didn't know how long it was going to be for so we didn't want to buy anything.  Well, like I've said its been 5 years and we're still out here.  We LOVE Terreton its the perfect little community and I love how wide open everything is.  We're right in the middle of all the farming, yet in the middle of the community as well.  We want to stay out here and continue making it our home.  However, someday (we thought it would have been by now) we want to be able to farm completly on our own.  The problem is: you either inherit it or marry it. Probelm #2 Nothing goes up for sale out here, you just all of a sudden hear that so and so just bought such and such place. #3 Nobody, especially in this economy is going to lend a young couple like us half a million dollars to get us started! So, here we sit, waiting and waiting for a turn of events to get us into our own place.  Because why buy something now, if we get the oppertunity to buy something else this fall.  OR in my case why spend the time and money in decorating THIS old house now, when we can have our own place this fall.  I have finally decided JUST DO IT!  We won't get a place of our own until I finally get settled into this one!  We need to just enjoy what we have now and DO make it our home, because it IS our home...at least for now.

What happens when mom's are Lazy??

This goes to show you how lazy of a mom I REALLY am!  A few Sundays back I was not ready to get out of bed...but Landon was ready for breakfast.  I got him his cereal left the pitcher of milk on the table and went back to bed-no I didn't actually sleep, but I love to just lay in bed if I can.

I finally decided it was time to check on Landon.  He should have been done by then.
THIS is what I came out to...

THEN when I put the lid back on I noticed THIS:
That's right! he poured his cereal inside the milk pitcher!!

AM I EVER GOING TO LEARN??

(If your wondering why the milk is in a pitcher, not a jug...we get our milk straight from the dairy.  Its what Ron grew up on and won't have it any other way.  I prefer store bought milk.  The other sepearates from the cream way too fast.)

Too Much Like His Dad!

What do YOU think?

I think I'm going to be in TROUBLE...I can't handle him already and he's not even TWO!!

11:00 PM

What do YOU do at 11:00 at night?  If your Madilyn you're still WIDE AWAKE playing with all the toys and dress up and everything else you refused to play with all day long!!

Pooped out little bumble bee!

All that stinging must be harder than ya think!!

My friend Pam bought Madilyn and Trixie matching dress up!
Landon decided he wanted to wear the bee wings, but Madilyn wasn't going to let him wear the wings without the matching skirt!

If it weren't for the face Ronald would have been VERY upset.  The other day Landon kept trying to put on Madilyn's sandles.  Ronald wouldn't have it!  He actually PAUSED his basketball game to "kick some butt"!  He's not going to let his boy be a fairy...not as long as he can help it!

a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE mother

I'll have you know!!  RONALD is the one that is always rough with the kids!  The kids LOVE it when they get to restle with dad.  And dad loves it too because he can't be as rough with mom as he can be with the kids!
What can I say, I didn't grow up with a bunch of wresting boys!
BUT for some reason, its always MOM that hurts the kids!

Yes, I'm the one that ran Landon into the piano when he split his head open and should have gotten stitches!

AND the one that caused this pretty bruise:
all because I was being the NICE mom by and lettting her help me push the grovery cart even though I should have made her stay in becasue she sprayed my pledge all over the watering can while sitting in the cart!

Sheesh!! Why is it ME that beats up the kids??

The Last of the Pictures! :(

Unfortunately this will be my last post with pictures for a while...a VERY LONG while I'm afraid. I let Madilyn look at the pictures on the camera while we were riding in the car. Its common for her to play with the camera so I didn't think much of it. When I got it back from her it wouldn't open due to a lens error!! When I asked her if she touched the big circle (the lens) she innocently said, "I pushed it REALLY hard!"
Needless to say, now I'm going to have to buff up on the writing skills because, especially in a blog,
"A PICTURE IS WORTH 1000words!"
 ESPECAILLY to grandmas and grandpas!!
(good thing they'll be here in just a couple weeks!)

So...here a a few pictures I have not yet blogged that are still on the memory card:

Forgot my camera was still set in black/white. But this little goober has the greatest little smile and is SO mischievous!!

Madilyn has SUCH an imagination, and I don't know WHERE she got it from!  Ron blames it on me.  But I never came up with anything on my own when I was little...I didn't need to, thats what I had big sis for!

This smile makes me laugh everytime I see it!!!  Anytime Landon sees a camera he comes running to it saying "CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEESE"

His latest thing has been to jut his jaw over to the left side so his teeth don't line up.
It makes it even worse that he only has THREE bottom teeth!!

We'll thats all the snapshots for now...I've decided to drag out this post into a few others..so keep watching!

MILLY'S!!

Sometimes farming actually has its perks!  This rainy cold weather has made it too wet to chemigate
(aka pump weed killer/pestisides through the pivots).
SO...we made a quick one day trip down to visit Phil, Camille, and their new baby -

BRIDGER.
HE IS SO STINKIN' CUTE!
(and a dang good little boy)
The original plan was to take off early Tuesday morning and spend the day in UTAH! We'll Ron just couldn't miss morning basketball, and its probably a good thing because we only made it as far as Idaho Falls. Ron had swapped the snow tires for the normal ones, but didn't get them balanced very well. SO instead we spent the morning walking around the greenbelt and down town Idaho Falls while the car was in the shop.

It was actually pretty fun. Madilyn loved it. We've never done it before, and I doubt we ever would have!

Idaho Falls Temple

Before we got back on the road we grabbed a little brunch for the ride!!

This kids traveled amazingly well!
Madilyn didn't ask for the TV to be one ONCE the entire trip and Landon took a good nap!
We finally got there and even Ronald enjoyed the little guy! :)

Landon got to test out all little Bridger's new toys!
YEP!  They passed inspection, especially his bouncer!
but then again, he'll climb in any bouncer
-as long as the other mom's don't mind!!
By the end of the afternoon he was EXHAUSTED! But would NOT take a nap!
Madilyn loved holding the little guy!
 (AND giving him kisses!!!)
Once the basketball game came on, we took the kids to the park across the street so the boys could enjoy the disapointing game!

I tried playing with Landon...
down the slide..
 and on the swings...
but he had more fun just plain running around...
and climbing! He's turing into an even bigger monkey than his sister ever was/is!!

...maybe not?

She's still one crazy monkey herself!  She tried out the monkey bars for the first time and did AMAZING!! BUT this mom's too big of a chicken to let her go completly by herself!

Madilyn had a blast playing with Aunt Allison and bossing HER around!
We had a great time, and hope Camille and Phil did too! They all seem to be doing great and adjusting well to their little addition!  We wish we could see them more often!

This Kid Cracks Me Up

Madilyn got some new shoes a couple weeks ago.  A few days later we were playing on the stairs at Grandma Hunting's house.  After clearing 5 steps to the bottom of the staircase she said
"WOW!  These shoes can really jump!!"

***
"Mom, I have a feeling."
What kind of feeling is it?
 "Its making me sleepy!"

***

The other morning I was telling Madilyn she needed to go to the bathroom becasue she had just woken up.  Because she didn't want to go by herself she said,  "I need some company mom".

***
Madilyn always has to sleep with a gazillion books and toys.  Ron put her to bed and commented on everything and told her how messy it was.  She said, "I know dad! But I just need them."

***
Madilyn has 2 favorite colors.  She does not like blue and she does not like red.  She really likes purple, but she still kind of likes pink!
