Mud Bath!!

Working in the garden yesterday turned in to quite the event!!  The kids LOVED playing in this mud hole, that was created when I had to run and get Landon who was headed to the highway-just as school was getting out.  I tried pretty hard to keep the kids out of the mud, but once they succeeded I figured they mine as well have some fun!!  In fact at one point Madilyn decided that since her pants were muddy she just needed to take them off, panties and all!  It took me a minute to realize why everyone was honking as they drove by!!

Look how deep that is!!

THE AFTERMATH!
None of them were too happy when I hosed them off so they could get in the tub!
(It was only 60 degrees outside)

Yes. This is the REAL Landon!

This is for all of you out there that think Landon can't throw a fit because he's always full of smiles! (and this is just a mild episode!)

Hauling Cattle

Every year Ron offers to help his grandpa hunting haul cows to and from the desert.  For all you uneducated cowboys out there...Every Spring they take the cows and put them on the "desert" AKA the middle of no-where and leave them for the summer to eat and breed. Then once it gets cold and there is no more feed left to eat they bring them back home where they calve for the winter.

I used to go with Ron all the time when we were dating and before we had kids. -Just like tractor rides!! (I never do anything of course.  I'd probably get trampled! But its fun to be out there and see everything.)
Loading cows onto the semi!
Working hard!
Here she comes!
THE DESERT
Coming off the trailor!

Trying to get them out, you'd think they'd be excited to get out of there!

After the first load I went and got the kids from Grandma Jane.  She was nice enough to watch them so I could go!
 Landon LOVES dogs!!
Madilyn yelling at Dad, Grandpa, and Uncle Allen!

Sittin' on a hay bale watching the men hard at work!

OR are they??

Second Chance Prom

Hey! Look!  My Boobs Fianlly Fill it out!
Even though I REALLY felt like this:

Every year our friends Pam and Taylor go to the 2nd Chance Prom. It always sounds like a lot of fun, but I KNOW Ron isn't much of a dancer so I never push the issue-even though they invite us every year. This year this invitation was more of a..."hey, we're on our way to the second chance prom if you want to join us this year..." I had just talked to Ron and he'd been rained out of planting potatoes so I threw on my old prom dress, acted like we had a sitter, and convinced him we were going. I didn't think I picture would do any justice of his reaction when he came home and saw me...he was EXTATIC on the phone because he was actually going to be able to WATCH the Celtics play, instead of listening to it on the radio!!

His reaction totally caught me off gaurd.  I expected a ****NO!
I guess I need to "wear the pants" more often! Its kind of fun!!

Madilyn and her hair.

Its like pulling teeth to do Madilyn's hair. She always wants it "STRAIGHT DOWN!" With NOTHING in it.  (so she looks like a homeless girl even if its brushed!) I don't fight with her too much during the week since we don't usually go anywhere.  But when we go to town or out of the house, its my rule that we fix her hair "sooo cute!"  Today she was really excited about her "pony tail and side bangs!"  I couldn't believe it!  I had to take a picture of it!

But by the time we got to the VERY FIRST STOP in town she looked like THIS:
I was bummed!  But not surprised.
It happens EVERY week as SOON as we get in the car!

While we went to town today, Landon got his first solo tractor ride with dad!
Dad says he did JUST FINE! He didn't even try to climb out of his seatbelt-AND took a 2 hour nap!!

PERFECTION and INDEPENDANCE!!

Madilyn has turned into quite the
Impatient
Indpendant
Perfectionist!!
OH BOY am I in trouble!!!!

1. She'd love to be able to ride her bike. BUT if she doesn't get it doesn't "get it" on the first try she just gets mad and jumps right off.  If I try to teach her and show her how to peddle she gets even ANGRIER!! She can't STAND someone telling her how to do something!!  She's got to figure it out on her own.  Sometimes she'll sit and tinker with things forever just trying to figure them out...but when it comes to skills,  if she can't do it right the first time then she
JUST CAN'T DO IT!!

2. Today we were tracing squares.  She was getting SO anygry becasue her lines weren't PERFECTLY straight!  I didn't think she did too bad.  But it wasn't PERFECT so it wasnt' good enough for her!! I feel bad for her teachers when she gets to school!  She is definetly an independant learner!! However, I love sitting and watching her trying to be so perfect.  She just needs some patients to go with it!

Here's a picture of her squares.  Not too bad for a 3 year old!!
I love how she had to do so many different colors!!

The Joys and Pains of Motherhood

As a mother, its amazing how much you feel for your kids! Your heart aches with theirs and gets just excited as they do when they learn something new!

Last night we were at swimming practice for the ward talent show. Well, as everybody knows, when you get a few kids playing in the gym at the church someone is bound to get hurt!  Last night it was Madilyn's turn.

She was trying to get through the door to the stage (I think it was to tell me she needed to go potty).  Things didn't work out and she got her finger caught in the door.  They smashed really good (right on the edge of the fingernail). She cried and she cried and she cried.  I was starting to think maybe she broke it because her cry wasn't her usual cry.  I felt so bad for her, but she didn't want to go home.  It didn't help any that after I tried to comfort her I put her in timeout for peeing her pants...not thinking it might have been the reason she was looking for me.  Then I felt
TERRIBLE!!

It didn't matter what I did she was just in pain.  We went to the bathroom and got a cold paper towel to hold around her tiny little finger.  That helped for a little bit.  She'd sit on the stage next to me, then go walk around the gym and sob.  Poor Ryker kept following her around wanting to know what was wrong.  She kept yelling at him to go away! I finally had to tell her, he just wanted to know what happened and to say sorry.  After that they talked for a while then they came and told Bobi and I that
"Madilyn needed some pizza from Ikes!"
It was SO cute!!
(Its fun to see her interact with other kids and have conversataions!!)

Then she went and sat under the stage (the little overhang).  She was pretty quiet under there, every once in a while I could hear her cry.  Then all off a sudden, completly out of the blue she jumps up and yells
YIPEE! YIPEE! Its all better now!
and just like that I was as happy as she was!
